Frequently asked questions
What is a bath bomb?
A bath bomb is a bath enhancement product that has been designed to create the perfect at home spa experience. Bath bombs create a fun or relaxing environment and the core ingredients are baking soda, citric acid, oils, essential oils, and coloring agents. These ingredients are mixed, hand packed and then pressed into a mold or a sphere where they take form and begin to harden. Bath bombs range from 2-6 oz and the biggest bath bombs provide the biggest fizz. Stop taking dull and boring baths, you deserve better!
Is the bath bomb natural and non-toxic?
All of Spa-Da bath bombs use natura ingredients or what we like to call safe synthetics. Furthermore, all of our ingredients have been approved by the FDA and our team of mom ambassadors.
Are bath bombs safe for kids?
Yes, we use natural and safe synthetics that are regulated and approved by 3rd parties and the FDA. Furthermore, there are no cheap toys in our kids bath bombs and there is no risk of choking. Bath bomb’s are a great addition to make bath time fun! Many of our younger mom’s have found our kids bath bombs are great for teaching their kiddos about mixing colors. At Spa-Da we make bath bombs for the whole family. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
What is a safe synthetic?
Safe synthetics are synthetic compounds that have been rigorously and scientifically proven to be safe and effective. Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it's safe and just because something is synthetic doesn’t mean it’s dangerous. In the beauty and wellness industries we have seen a major shift towards natural ingredients, but that doesn’t mean all synthetics are evil and bad. Infact, many synthetic ingredients are safer than natural essential oils. We embrace safe ingredients whether they’re made by nature or inspired by nature, but what we promise not to use are the dangerous parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. It is also important to note that many natural oils such as limonene and linalool have a higher chance of causing skin irritation than safe synthetics.
How do you use a bath bomb?
Bath bombs are activated by dropping them into a warm bath where they release their moisturizering fats and therapeutic essential oils. Bath bombs will tend to fizz for a few minutes, but the moisturizing properties will leave your skin feeling softer and the aromatherapy properties will linger around your bathroom for hours. After using let your tub drain like normal and wash away any remaining color residue.
Do bath bombs stain your tub?
No. There is absolutely no tub scrubbing associated with using Spa-Da bath bombs! At Spa-Da all of our bath bomb formulas have been rigorously tested to verify that our colorful and aromatic bath bombs won’t stain your bathtub. However, buyers should be weary that many cheap bath bombs have not gone through this testing and are made with questionable ingredients in an effort to increase their shelf life.
What’s the difference between bubble baths and bath bombs?
It’s all about the fizzzzzz and the ingredients. Bubble baths are the bath fun that your grandma grew up with and bath bombs are for the new generation of bath tub lovers. The new generation wants more fizzzzz and aromatherapy with their soap suds. Furthermore, bath bombs have more functionality due to baking soda’s high pH value that leaves your water feeling soft and silky. More specifically, high pH or alkaline substances have been associated with the removal of toxins and neutralizing hard water that dries out skin.
Do bath bombs have moisturizing properties?
Not all bath bombs are made the same, but the bombs that are handmade by Spa-Da are all infused with moisturizing fats and oils. These ingredients deliver the essential fatty acids that our skin needs to remain youthful and the baking soda tends to “soften” bath water and reduce your chances of having dry and itchy skin. If your child suffers with dry skin and Eczema it may be time to try our kids bath bombs.
Are bath bombs actually soap?
Yes and no. Technically, bath bombs are a cosmetic that have cleansing properties that are similar to soaps, but from a legal perspective bath bombs are not soaps and are regulated as ‘cosmetics’ in accordance with FDA regulations. Soaps on the other hand are regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The FDA considers cosmetics anything that is applied to the human body that is used for beautification or cleansing purposes. Bath bombs are simply bath time cosmetics that enhance the aesthetic and aromantic experience of taking a bath.
Can bath bomb’s cause skin irritation?
Just like traditional cosmetics, bath bomb’s have the potential to cause skin irrationation for those with sensitive skin. More specifically, both natural essential oils and safe synthetics can create skin irritation. We urge all of our sensitive skin shoppers to see our full ingredient list prior to making a purchase. At Spa-Da we are 100% transparent about what we put in our products and we are always looking for ways to offer better products to those with allergies and sensitive skin.
